YMCA of Greater Houston Inspires Houstonians to Achieve Their Best with the “Go For Your Gold Pass” During the Summer Games

Feel like a champion and break personal records with the Y from July 26 – September 30

HOUSTON (July 24, 2024)— As the world tunes into the summer games, the YMCA of Greater Houston is empowering the community to channel their inner champion and break personal records – no matter what they may be – with the help of the “Go For Your Gold Pass.” From July 26 to September 30, Houstonians of all ages and backgrounds can use the pass for up to three visits at any YMCA of Greater Houston location, allowing them to enjoy and learn about the Y’s services and programs and be part of the global excitement, all without any financial commitments.

“At the Y, you don’t have to be a gold medal winner to feel like a champion. Your toughest opponent is always yourself, so go for whatever makes you happy and achieve your best. Our goal for the ‘Go for your Gold Pass’ is to unite people of all abilities to support each other’s goals and celebrate shared achievements,” said Stephen Ives, president and CEO of YMCA of Greater Houston.

With the “Go For Your Gold Pass,” Houstonians will feel like champions as they achieve their milestones through various programs and amenities, connecting them to the excitement of both summer games. Below are a few ways Houstonians can participate:

  • Score goals like a champ with Youth Soccer programming, where kids improve their soccer skills and grow as individuals through a fun, safety-focused program with age-appropriate rules.
  • Shatter personal records with YMCA Aquatics, home to one of the country’s largest and most comprehensive swimming programs.
  • Enjoy the Y’s strength and cardio equipment as you track your progress and challenge yourself by jogging on the treadmill or increasing reps with free weights.
  • Embrace your inner athlete on the basketball court, dribbling the ball and scoring points for the team while embracing the spirit of worldwide games. Fun fact: Basketball was invented at the YMCA over 130 years ago!
  • Be a champion with Y’s Adaptive Sports Programs, which offer children and adults with disabilities the chance to play sports (baseball, basketball, swimming and soccer) and participate in learning opportunities in a safe, fun atmosphere.

While the summer games conclude on August 11, the global summer adaptive sports competition kicks off on August 28, showcasing elite athletes in a variety of adaptive sports disciplines. Committed to fostering achievement, belonging and connection in the community, the YMCA’s “Go For Your Gold Pass” will offer Houstonians a unique chance to challenge themselves, set a new record at their own pace and ability, and experience the thrill of both global games right in their communities. The pass can be redeemed by visiting here.
