COMMUNITY-BASED OPPORTUNITY CENTERS

The YMCA Outreach Initiative team currently operates 9 Opportunity Centers across Houston. The Outreach Initiative team approaches opportunities to work with families in the communities we serve with holistic and collaborative intention. With the support of community partners and Y volunteers, Opportunity Centers are able to close the gaps of inequities and bridge access and resources not available to families in their immediate area.

Goal

Opportunity Centers bridge access and create connections for families that they don’t have in their immediate area. Since needs are different in each community, the Outreach staff approaches opportunities holistically and with intention. We collaborate with community partners and volunteers to deliver programs and resources to families and create safe and encouraging spaces that they may not receive elsewhere.
