In addition, the a professional development plan with the Y includes:

  • Robust Leadership Development and Certification program for all stages of a career rooted in the Y-USA’s Cause Driven Leadership® Competency Model
  • The 70/20/10 Model for learning through work experience by creating opportunities for on-the-job skill development, career coaching, mentorship, training and self-study.
  • Immediate access to tools, resources, subject matter experts and mentors and from over 10,000 communities with YMCAs across the country (called the Y Movement) to help you reach your potential in your role or program.


As an incredible incentive, anyone who joins our YMCA Child Care team as either a part-time or full-time staff member will be eligible for child care reimbursements. Through May 2023, YMCA Child Care team members who work a minimum of 20 hours/week will receive the following benefits:

$300 monthly stipend for Youth Development Counselors and Preschool Assistant Teachers

$500 monthly stipend for Site Leads and Preschool Teachers

• As of Jan. 1, 2022, part-time and full-time childcare staff who have worked at the Y for over one year are eligible for college tuition reimbursement of up to $1500 for undergraduates and $2500 for graduate-level courses per semester through May 20, 2023

Additional benefits include:

• New and current staff may apply for a childcare fee reimbursement to repay childcare costs of up to $1025/month, regardless of whether the care is provided at the Y

• Staff with children in after-school care can receive a reimbursement maximum of $290/month

• Staff with children in before-school care can receive a reimbursement maximum of $235/month

These are temporary benefits made available thanks to the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Grant.

We are committed to creating safe and brave spaces for employees to feel wholly known, seen, and heard while empowering themselves and each other.

Below is the list of our ERGs:

African American Resource Network (AARN)

Strives to provide connections and opportunities for leadership development of African Americans in our Y movement, and more specifically, for career and personal development, networking, training and mentoring. We encourage you to engage with our members in this space and encourage others to join the group and discover ways you can support AARN as a member or an ally.

Asian & Pacific Islander Leadership Network (APILN)

Our network includes Asian and Pacific Islander staff, volunteers and allies. Sharing information and resources through social activities, trainings and experiences to drive personal growth, grow networks and develop careers. We believe in strength through diligence and diversity.

Christian Leadership Resource Network (CLRN)

Cultivates an encouraging and Christ-focused environment for Y staff to network, learn, and grow.

Disability Leadership Resource Network (DLRN)

Our Network includes staff with disabilities, staff who are caregivers and staff who are interested in supporting inclusion efforts. We are here to create networks and support leadership growth through trainings, awareness and resources events.

Emerging Leaders Resource Network (ELRN)

Cultivates opportunities for all Y employees that wish to grow and develop within the Y movement in order to deepen the commitment, connection and passion for our next generation of Y leaders. We also introduce additional ERG options to staff.

Hispanic Latino Leadership Network (HLLN)

Creates awareness and spaces to celebrate the diversity, resiliency and beauty of the LatinX community through inspiration, learning and building community with mentorship and connection opportunities.

Interfaith Leadership Resource Network (ILRN)

Faith and Religion have the power to raise awareness and influence attitudes, behaviors and practices. They can shape social values in line with faith-based teachings. The ILRN is committed to ensuring an inclusive environment and creating brave spaces for shared dialogue, collaboration and service for Leaders of all levels and of all faiths.

Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer Resource Network (LGBTQ)

Creates a brave, inclusive and affirming environment for all YMCA employees and volunteers to thrive regardless of biological sex, physical or emotional attraction and expression of gender identity.

Women’s Leadership Resource Network (WLRN)

Cultivates an environment that leverages the talents and addresses the unique needs of women while maximizing their career potential at the Y.
