Community Programs

Since 1886 the YMCA has been an essential part of Houston. The current times have exposed critical community issues that require more action from the Y than ever before. Building on our long history of supporting communities, as well as responding to critical needs, the Y is committed to addressing social isolation, food insecurity, health disparities, learning gaps, racial inequity, and more.

Our Focus on Community Impact

The Y is a cause-driven organization that is for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility. A strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors.

We are community-centered, bringing people together of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gap in community needs. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive and work tirelessly to mobilize the local community every day to effect lasting, meaningful change.

Community Services

We know that the Houston area, and its community needs, look very different than where it was over a year ago. At the Y, we have redesigned programs to help strengthen our community. Through community resource guides, food distribution, community-based opportunity centers and more, we are able to help bridge the gaps within our area.

International Services

YMCA International Services provides client-centered services to refugees, survivors of human trafficking, asylees, and other vulnerable newcomers from around the world. Services include financial assistance, immigration legal services, post-release services, case management, employment education, and more.
