THRIVE WHERE YOU LEAD, LEARN, AND SERVE: YMCA Leaders In Training (LIT) Program
Teen years are a crucial time for growth, learning, and self-discovery. The right opportunities can help teens develop confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of responsibility. That’s why the YMCA’s Leaders In Training (LIT) Program is designed to give teens a meaningful and enriching experience that goes beyond a traditional summer camp.
What is the LIT Program?
The YMCA Leaders In Training (LIT) Program is an 8-week leadership, learning, and workforce readiness experience for teens ages 13–15. Through hands-on participation, mentorship, and real-world experience, LITs gain valuable life skills while having fun and making lifelong friendships.
Why Should Teens Apply?
✔ Gain Leadership Experience – Teens take on active roles within various YMCA departments, learning teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
✔ Build Meaningful Relationships – Through peer collaboration and mentorship from YMCA staff, teens develop friendships and connections that last beyond the summer.
✔ Workforce Readiness – LITs gain firsthand experience in a professional environment, preparing them for future jobs and leadership roles.
✔ Fun & Engaging Activities – With a guided curriculum, discussions, and weekly field trips, there’s always something exciting to look forward to!
✔ Make a Difference – By working in the community and supporting YMCA programs, LITs become positive role models and active contributors to their environment.
