Join the Y
Absolutely! YMCA team members are available at our locations during posted operating hours and would be happy to show you everything that the Y has to offer you and your family. If you’d like to schedule a tour contact the YMCA location near you.
At the Y we offer flexible and affordable membership options that help you achieve your goals. With no joining fee, no contract, a 30 day money-back guarantee, and financial assistance, we want Y membership to be available for all.

No – in order to make our memberships accessible to all and to remove barriers to joining, we do not charge a joining fee when you purchase a membership.

A city-wide facility membership gives you access to all of the facilities located throughout the greater Houston area. The Y is transforming membership to become a powerful tool to impact our community. Your facility membership also includes Nationwide access at participating Y locations in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Absolutely! We ask that anyone wishing to visit our facilities register for a guest pass. This allows us to properly welcome anyone interested in a YMCA membership, give them a tour of the facility, go over any safety procedures, etc. A photo ID is required at check in. Request a Guest Pass >
Serving the community is a large part of who we are. If cost is a barrier for you and/or your family, please speak to one of our membership representatives about options available.
Beyond financial assistance, we also offer a Member Referral program and you can receive a month of membership dues on us for referring friends and family to the Y. We have partnerships with many corporate and school district partners. Check with your human resources department for more information or contact us directly.
Membership Questions
Your membership includes access to all of our YMCAs across the greater Houston area, advanced fitness equipment within our Wellness Centers and group exercise classes (both in person and on-demand). You will also find motivation, support and community connections at the Y. In addition to accessing all YMCA centers in Greater Houston and all the programs that you love, your membership gives you the power to help those in our community who need the Y most.
The maximum number of people that can be on your membership is determined by the number that reside in your household. We are proud to offer flexible membership options for every person and family designed to help you live your safest and healthiest life. We offer a wide variety of membership options for adults, families, young adults and seniors and everyone will be able to find a membership type that is applicable to their household.

Absolutely! Working out is always more fun with a friend. They can experience a day at the Y on us with a complimentary one-day guest pass. A photo ID is required.
If they decide to join after their visit, you will receive a month of membership dues on us for your referral!

App notifications and text notifications are available by opt in for YMCA members and keep you in the know on what is happening at your YMCA. App notifications can be activated in your in-app settings and text notifications are available by texting YMCAHOUSTON to 545-39.
Schedules & Reservations
Schedules for group exercise classes, virtual classes, swimming pools and gymnasiums are available on the YMCA of Greater Houston website and on our mobile app.
We can’t wait for you to visit us at one of our Houston area locations. Facility hours, pool hours, amenities and more are listed on each YMCA locations webpage.
Group exercise classes are a great way to stay active and motivated and get to know other members who attend the same YMCA. Reservations are preferred for group exercise classes.
Reserving a spot in one of our classes is quick and easy to do! Our schedules are posted online and in our mobile app and registration is convenient and secure. You can register for just one or multiple classes at a time up to 72 hours in advance.
When you reserve a spot in class you will receive an email confirmation. This confirmation gives an option for cancelling your reservation if your plans change. You can also conveniently cancel a class on our YMCA mobile app.
Yes – While a reservation is preferred to ensure that you have a spot in our most popular classes, YMCA members and guests may attend a class without a reservation if there are openings.
It is important to us that our staff teams have the opportunity to spend time with their family and friends on holidays. With that in mind, all YMCA locations follow adjusted hours for many holidays. All facilities are closed on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Please check our website, or our social media for hours of operation on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July Fourth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Youth Programs
No matter what their interest the YMCA has a program to get them active, connected and engaged. From child care and camps to youth sports and enrichment programs, you are sure to find the perfect fit for your child. Learn more about our programs.
While we strive to offer program spots to meet the needs of everyone in our community, many of our programs are very popular and spots fill fast! If the program you are interested in is full you do have the option to go on a waitlist. A team member will contact you if more spots are opened or if a spot becomes available.
Yes – YMCA Child Watch lets mom and dad pursue their own health and well-being, knowing that the kids are safe, secure and having fun in a positive environment. Child Watch is available for youth ages 6 weeks-12 years* and is included as a YMCA Facility Membership benefit. Hours vary by location and are listed on each locations webpage.

At the Y, we work to ensure your children have a safe, fun filled experience in all of our programs. Children learn values, positive behaviors, to respect themselves and others, work out differences, and discover the value of friendship. We are committed to providing a safe atmosphere of learning that helps develop self-confidence and builds character through promoting our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith, all in an inclusive environment. Our team members serve as partners with parents, working together to help kids grow up healthy, happy and strong.
All staff must:
- Pass a thorough background check process including: National Child Abuse Registry and National & State Sex Offender Registry
- Drug tested
All staff are trained in:
- Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Emergency Action Plans
Staff in licensed child care programs also:
- Pass a background check that includes FBI fingerprints
- Complete a minimum of 30 clock hours of professional development annually
Our After School child care and summer camp programs are licensed by the Texas Department of Family Protective Services childcare licensing regulations. These regulations are designed to reduce the risk of harm to children while they are in before and after school care.
During unannounced visits, DFPS personnel ensure that all Y programs adhere to childcare minimum standards.

While the YMCA does not offer direct assistance for these needs, as a United Way agency we are proud to refer individuals to the 211 Texas/United Way HELPLINE. This is a free, confidential helpline operated by United Way of Greater Houston, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the 211Texas/United Way HELPLINE connected more than 1.2 million of our neighbors with help in 2022. Top calls were for utility assistance, rent and mortgage assistance, housing, public benefits assistance, and food assistance.
Whether you need help finding child care, food stamps, care for an aging parent, or a haven from domestic violence, 211 is the number to call when you don’t know who to call. Our trained HELPLINE specialists are good listeners, blending understanding and expertise to provide information and referrals drawn from a comprehensive database of social services.
