Frequently Asked Questions

The YMCA Gator Ride is a Baytown tradition and will celebrate 33 years in 2022! As a recommended ride, with three routes winding through the greater Baytown area, this is an event that you need to place on your schedule! For the 2022 ride, there are 3 routes; 33, 53 and a family ride so there’s something for most everyone. All proceeds from the YMCA Gator Ride go toward our Annual Campaign. The YMCA Annual Campaign helps everyone, regardless of age, income or background, have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

To participate in the ride, it cost $40. We also provide a Family Ride, which is $10. As part of Gator Ride we have found an easy terrain for the family ride that is short, flat and provides paved path roads. The route is also safe and away from traffic and also easy to navigate.

COVID-19 Restrictions/Guidelines

The Baytown YMCA is going to great lengths to enforce and support all county and state guidelines pertaining to COVID-19.  Bulleted below are some of the protocols Please see the listed event changes and updates that will allow us to social distance and prevent the further spreading of the virus.

  • Contactless Check-in: Riders will pick up BIB from the comfort of their own vehicle.  One staff person will check the rider in by scanning a QR code from the rider’s phone.
  • Starting Line: Riders will park and walk their bike to the starting line. This year’s event is a rolling start so riders immediately will take off along the route once they approach the start line.
  • Rest Stops: Rest stop will have a social distancing monitor.  Water bottles will be available, but will be given to the rider by a trained volunteer.  The area will be immediately sanitized before another water is handed out.
  • Finish line: YMCA staff will ensure riders immediately exit the finish line area back to their vehicles.
  • Staff: Each of our YMCA staff have to complete 2 COVID-19 training courses prior to the event.

The Baytown YMCA respects all county and state guidelines.  This event is 100% an outdoor event and there will be no inside activities for any reason.

We will have a rolling start 7:30 am to 8:30 am.  The Family ride will start at 8:45 am. No one will be allowed on the 33 and 53 mile routes after 8:30 am.  Gator Ride will end at 2:pm.

We offer a ride for those 12 and up as well as a family ride for parents and their children younger than 12.  To learn more about both our rides, please visit the Gator Ride webpage.

Visit the Gator Ride webpage to see the routes we’re taking as part of this year’s Gator Ride.

The Gator Ride will take place rain or shine.
