Team-Building
Swim team gives youth the opportunity to be a part of a team while still striving to be their individual best.
Individual Progress
Our goal is to develop within each swimmer the desire to succeed, a willingness to work hard, self-discipline and self-confidence, a sense of sportsmanship and loyalty to their team.
Health & Fitness
Swimming is an activity that an individual can do for life. Swimmers build strength, speed and endurance through a variety of training techniques.
Stroke Technique
Swimmers work with trained coaches to refine and improve on their stroke technique. Swimmers work on the four basic strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly as well as turns and starts.
Regional Programs
The YMCA offers the option of nine swim teams in six different regions of the Houston area. You are sure to find a team close to home!

General Swim Team Information
Practice, Meets and Competitions
Swimmers must schedule and complete a swim evaluation prior to joining the team. This ensures correct placement for practice and skill development in their competitive swimming journey. Practice days and times vary based on team as well as swimmer skill level. Workouts include endurance, speed and drill techniques, in water and on land. Activities on land include strength and endurance training. Our Swim Teams compete with other YMCA of Greater Houston teams as well as teams from across the state of Texas.

Our highly trained YMCA staff ensure a safe, quality experience for each swimmer with a commitment to skill development, training and fun in competitive swimming.
