WELCOMING YOU BACK SAFELY

We are focused on the safety and well-being of all who visit our YMCA. With limited class sizes, social distancing and enhanced safety protocols, you can feel safe joining us at the Y!

WORKING TOGETHER FOR A SAFE ENVIRONMENT

Based on guidelines and recommendations put forth by the CDC, as well as local and national health officials, we will observe the following in our YMCA centers:

MASKS: Masks are required for individuals age 10+ in common areas, locker rooms, hallways and when an individual is not engaged in indoor exercise as well as for youth ages 10+ in Child Watch, Y Learning Centers and Day/Holiday Camp programs. Masks will not be required while a member is actively engaged in exercise.

Masks will not be required when members or participants are on an outdoor pool deck or outdoor sport fields.

Staff are required to wear face masks while serving members or interacting with others unless teaching a group exercise class or lifeguarding.

Members who are at an increased risk as outlined by the CDC, as well as those who feel more comfortable wearing a mask are encouraged to do so. We ask that all members and guests continue to practice social or physical distancing and stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people who are not from their household in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

RESERVATIONS: Reservations are required for group exercise classes, swimming pools, Child Watch and other select amenities. Reservations are not required in the Wellness Center (ie. areas with cardiovascular and strength training equipment). Social distancing guidelines will be observed in these areas and some equipment may not be available. Reservations can be made up to 72 hours in advance.

TEMPERATURE CHECKS: Temperature checks will be required in our Y Learning Centers and Day/Holiday Camp programs. YMCA After School Child Care will follow all school district guidelines.

DESIGNED FOR SOCIAL DISTANCE: Modifications have been made inside of our facilities so participants can maintain at least 6 ft. distance between each other.

CLEANING: Our staff team will continue to ensure the highest standards for cleaning in all areas of the facility as well as follow all health and safety guidelines that are currently in place. We encourage our members to be a part of the process and clean their equipment before and after use for your safety.

Restrooms, locker rooms, and commonly touched surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected frequently. Pool decks will be cleaned daily. We have added extra hand sanitizing stations, cleaning supplies and staff in addition to a system to ensure that equipment is cleaned and sanitized between uses.

AMENITIES AND OFFERINGS

These have been difficult and uncertain times for our country, our city and our YMCA. Due to the many challenges this pandemic has placed before us, unfortunately we have been unable to fully reopen some of our YMCA locations for our Y family. The decision to not reopen those facilities at this time is not one we have taken lightly and we are unsure as to when we will be able to reopen.

The sustainability of YMCA services is vital in your community and we are committed to meeting the needs of all who call the Houston area home. In June we launched our Appreciative Community Building process designed to deepen our commitment to and impact in the communities we serve. We prioritized the communities where our facilities are currently closed due to COVID to inform our strategy of serving that community in the most relevant, impactful and sustainable way possible. We are committed to completing this process with all of our YMCA locations that are currently closed by the end of the year.

All YMCA of Greater Houston members have City-Wide access at no additional cost. If your location is closed, view our map to find the closest location. view all of our locations here.

All our classes are available for viewing online or by downloading the YMCA of Greater Houston app to view classes.

The easiest way to reserve a spot in class is to download the YMCA of Greater Houston app and filter by offering. You can also RESERVE YOUR SPOT in the class by going to our website and selecting our scheduler. There will be a capacity by class/amenity. Reservations will be required in advance in many areas. If you have more than one person attending, you will need to make multiple RESERVATIONS.

Due to social distancing and taking extra measures in disinfecting, cleaning, we will be running a limited schedule throughout the day. We are continuing to add additional classes to the schedule and are offering many classes virtually. VIEW CURRENT SCHEDULE
